Methyl Cellulose

Methyl Cellulose is a cellulose methyl ether. It is a small particles, fibrillar or powder with white or light yellow or light gray appearance, odorless and tasteless, which almost insoluble in anhydrous ethanol, ether and acetone. It can rapidly spread and swell in hot water at 80~90 ℃, and rapidly dissolve after cooling. The aqueous solution is quite stable at room temperature, and can gel at high temperature, and this gel can transform with the solution in different temperature. It has excellent wettability, dispersibility, adhesion, thickening, emulsification, water retention and moulding properties, as well as impermeability to oil.
